Wins Global Design Awards for 2 Consecutive Years

Samyang Holdings Biopharmaceuticals Division (Head: Lee Young-Joon) announced on April 15 that the company’s thread lifting brand “Croquis” has won the packaging design award for a medical device at the iF Design Award 2022, known as one of the world’s three most prestigious design awards. Having been awarded at German Red Dot Award last year, it has won global design awards for two consecutive years, bolstering the brand’s image worldwide.

Croquis is a thread lifting brand derived from a drawing technique of the same name that quickly sketches the contours of a subject in simple lines. Just like the technique that expresses only with lines, Croquis uses threads to naturally correct facial contours with the goal of bringing out the inherent, underlying beauty.

The award-winning Croquis packaging features a sketch of various facial angles with black lines over a white background, realizing the design concept of “line drawing.” In addition, five different drawing methods were applied for each design, which was unique yet unified.

An official from Samyang Holdings Design Team said, “We have visualized the brand’s identity with an artistic sense inspired by the croquis technique to be clearly seen from its packaging. It is artistically designed, which makes it different from the existing pharmaceutical packaging that only emphasizes functionality.”

Started in 1953, iF Design Award is an award given by the International Forum Design, a non-profit independent design agency headquartered in Hanover, Germany. Along with the Red Dot Design Award of Germany and International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) of the U.S., the iF Design Award is referred to as one of the world’s top 3 design awards. It especially has a high level of credibility as it is not aided or run by a specific country or company.

Meanwhile, Samyang Holdings Biopharmaceuticals Division entered the cosmetic surgery market in 2020 with the launch of Croquis based on the 25-year-accumulated technology in biodegradable surgical suture. Croquis has targeted the global market since its launch, releasing global case studies and research results while proving its efficacy and safety through data. The company has signed sales contracts in 17 countries, including Japan and European countries, and is also seeking marketing approvals in Brazil and Australia.
